How the platform works, what each measurement means, and how to reach us.

Platform & data

Where do the numbers come from?
Annual throughput is reported by each port authority. Everything faster than monthly — daily lifts, vessels alongside, berth waits — is modeled deterministically from those totals plus regional seasonality. Each metric carries a LIVE / REPORTED / ESTIMATED / MODELED badge with its source, method, last update and frequency. Read the methodology →
What is the Global Port Index?
A TEU-weighted aggregate of every tracked port's Activity Score, rebased to 1,000. It is always expressed in points (pts) — never as a price.
What is an Activity Score?
A weighted 0–100 score per port combining throughput, vessel movement, berth waits, utilization and growth. Extreme daily moves link to "Why is this port moving?" with a per-component contribution breakdown.
How often does the data update?
Daily at 00:00 UTC. Reported annual figures update when a port authority publishes.

Predicts

What is Predicts?
YES/NO scenarios derived from modeled port activity — throughput, efficiency, ranking and congestion questions. Values are modeled probabilities and are illustrative only.
Can I trade with money?
Predicts is currently a model-only preview; no funds move through these scenarios. Portflow does not provide investment advice.

Saved Ports

Do I need an account?
No account is needed to save ports on this device. When you open your profile while signed in, saved ports are added to your account. Recently viewed ports stay in this browser.
Do Saved Ports change the data?
Never. Saved Ports only personalize what is shown first. Rankings, Activity Scores and indexes are identical for everyone.
Why did my Saved Ports disappear?
Clearing site data, private browsing, or switching browsers or devices resets the local list. Ports already added to your signed-in profile remain in your account.
